Harness and anchor on every sash
A full-body harness and a line tied to a fixed point inside the room before anyone sits in the opening.

Outside face, from inside
The sash swings inward, so the outer face of the glass comes to the cleaner instead of the other way round. No scaffolding in the street, no lift in the square.
- 04
Pane by pane, by hand
Mild solution, microfibre and a squeegee sized to the pane. Glazing bars and putty lines wiped dry so no water sits in the timber.
- 05
Frames and sills too
Reveals, frames and sills wiped down. Clean glass in a dirty frame still reads as dirty.
- 06
Closed up and checked
Every sash latched again, floor dry, and the glass checked against the light from inside and from the square.
What changed
On a historic window the result is not only the glass. It is also that the frame came through the clean undamaged.

Common questions
Do you clean windows in listed and historic buildings?
Yes. The difference is method, not price: no harsh chemicals, no blade on old glass, no water left sitting in timber or putty, and floor protection under every opening.
How do you reach windows you cannot get to from outside?
Most historic sashes open inward. We work from inside the opening on a harness and anchor line, which is faster and cheaper than a lift and leaves the street clear.
Can you work while the building is open?
Yes. We move room by room, keep floors dry and covered, and agree the order with the building manager so the public part is never blocked.
How often should windows like these be cleaned?
Twice a year keeps both the glass and the timber in good order: spring for winter salt and grit, autumn before the dark season. A building on a busy street needs it more often.
